Editorial Policy
This page describes the standards every page on CalcRay is held to. It exists so you can judge our work by our process, not just our claims.
Accuracy and review
Every calculator implements standard, well-established financial formulas, published in full on our methodology page and kept in sync with the code that runs them. Every numerical claim in our written content must come from one of three places: the published formula, a worked example we computed with the same engine the calculator uses, or a cited primary source. We do not publish statistics we cannot trace. Content pages carry a "Last reviewed" date; when a formula, assumption, or cited source changes, the affected pages are re-reviewed and the date is updated.
Sourcing
Where we cite external facts, we cite primary sources — government and regulatory publishers such as the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the Federal Reserve, the IRS, and the FTC — and we link directly to the source so you can verify it. We prefer no citation over a weak one.
Scope: education, not advice
We explain how financial mechanics work and let you compute your own numbers. We do not tell you what to do with them. Nothing on this site is individualized financial, tax, or legal advice, and we say so wherever the distinction could blur.
How content is produced
CalcRay is maintained by the same small, independent team that builds the calculators. We use modern software tooling, including AI assistance, in drafting and maintenance; every page is reviewed by a person, and every number is checked against the formulas above before publication. We do not use invented authors, credentials, or personas.
Independence and advertising
The site is supported by display advertising and clearly disclosed affiliate links. Advertisers and partners have no influence over any calculation, formula, example, or editorial decision, and no page's content is altered to favor a commercial outcome.
Corrections
If a result or statement is wrong, we want to know. Report it via the contact page with the tool name and your exact inputs; verified errors are fixed promptly and the page's review date is updated. Accuracy is the entire point of this site.
